True, everything seems to be a constant carnival these days, but these pictures are of a fair (Cranger Kirmes) that takes place only for 2 weeks every year 🙂 After that they move to a different city, e.g. Duesseldorf, or later South Germany, too, if I remember right. I think it was even considered the largest traveling fair in Europe.
And “Karneval” in Germany is the fifth season starting at 11:11am on November 11 and ending on Ash Wednesday when people get silly and dressed up in silly costumes… well not always, but increasingly often..lol Although I never was very much into it I have to admit that I kind of miss the silliness of it. This tradition managed to create a somewhat lighter and more cheerful atmosphere in the society of the winter months, distracting a bit from all the violence and filth you find everywhere otherwise.
