I have tried to stay out of the fray. I really have. It seems so pointless anyway. But the constant ranting and chatter is making little uncomfortable chinks in my armor. Like tiny annoying grains of sand they have begun to greatly irritate me. Next up I am expecting to see loyalty review boards, perhaps a brand spanking new committee on “Un-American” activities, and the glorious return of the blacklist.
So here goes my cannonball into the pool.
Hope? Yeah right. Sigh.
In case there is any doubt–no idea how there could be–the poster is offered up with great sarcasm.
Now if you excuse me I will return to the quiet of my lair.

A couple observations about the poster.
#1. It’s kind of heartening that the putative bad guys are depicted thrashing minorities! (Pardon: women aren’t a minority, but traditionally I believe they are considered an honorary minority, due to having been so thoroughly oppressed for so long. I assume the dude in the dress belongs to some quasi-oppressed faction. Dudes in a dress usually do). I say it’s heartening, because at least the demagogues behind the poster realized that showing people whupping on minorities is shorthand for “these are the bad guys.” I like that they get that, at least. I like that there is some overlap between commie-haters and them what realize it’s un-American to rough up the marginalized. Perhaps I’m easily encouraged.
#2. I don’t think this poster would ever fly in today’s right-wing circles. A drawing of burning the flag is as good as burning the flag!
