I ran into a really great short film by Spanish director and filmmaker Nacho Vigalondo today and I of course had to share it with you all.
It’s called “7:35 de la Mañana” (7:35 in the Morning). It’s not new by a long shot, made in 2003. Just new to me. The film won lots of acclaim and awards and was even up for an Academy Award. But somehow it flew right under my radar.
But of course, as is often the case, my one discovery lead to more and I also ran into Vigalondo‘s latest short which I found very intriguing and have to share with you as well. In it Marisa’s personality and resulting appearance changes in relation to her location. So who is Marisa? Fascinating premise and ultimately a sad story.
Vigalondo also has produced a feature film Los cronocrÃmenes (Timecrimes) that after watching these shorts I am itching to locate.* Hopefully Netflix comes through on this one for me. If so I’ll report back on what I think of the feature.
So it’s a double feature for this this post folks. You might want to grab a snack.

* NetFlix did indeed have Timecrimes. We watched it the other night and I highly recommend it for sci-fi fans. Great time travel tale with a twist. Very well done!

Perfect timing, Alice! Thank you. My eldest daughter, Devon, flies in Saturday from a semester in Peru and I can share these with her. She will LOVE them and I’ll get to see if she actually improved her Spanish or just had way too much fun down there…hopefully a lot of both.
She graduates in May from Davidson. What an UTTER absurdity! She just started riding her tricycle a bit ago… 🙂
You will have to ask her if the translations are anywhere near correct. My husband is German and he often tells me that the English translations for German movies are not so accurate.
Yeah the older I get the faster time flies. I remember when I was young hearing adults say that and with no frame of reference it seemed so silly and strange. High school was an eternity and now four years is nothing…blink of an eye…bat of an eyelash.
Oh and I just posted on a snack food made from corn from Peru! 🙂
