What mustard, a helicopter, and Elvis have in common…

I often don’t have any clear recollections of my dreams save for a couple that reoccur and I have a bit of a handle on. Every once in awhile I have a dream that a small piece sticks with me from.  Such is the case for last night’s dream. It is very disjointed and full of holes, but the few details I remember made me laugh when I woke up.

HelicopterIt started with a helicopter. Of this I am sure. Beyond that I am not so clear about this part. I think  it was in a clip of something we (don’t know who was with me..but someone was) were shown from a movie or tv show.

I believe we were to memorize the scene and then find out everything we could about it. There was a soundtrack to the clip and our first task was to find out what the song was. We headed up to the second floor of this store and there was a contact there. We asked her about the soundtrack and who the singer was, what the name of the song was. She was cagey saying she couldn’t tell us but that Peter over there, and at this point she did a ridiculously exaggerated combo head and eye movement towards a shelf of merchandise, could help us out with the name of a woman who could.

We head over to the shelf and there is a jar of Peter Pan Mustard. Yes, mustard. No, Peter Pan doesn’t make mustard. Peter Pan MustardBut this was no jar of peanut butter. It was clearly, yes, mustard. Stone ground in fact.  Maybe that was the clue that we had found the right Peter?

We open the jar of mustard and inside the top is a piece of paper with the name “Susan Richardson” written on it. There is mustard on the paper but I pull it out anyway, getting my hands full of mustard.  The original woman who directed us to the jar calls to us saying, “Downstairs at the bar. Third woman from the left.” I think to myself in the dream. Now why didn’t she just tell us THAT in the first place? Why the messy mustard jar?

ElvisNext we head down to the bar and spot Richardson. I ask her about the song in the clip. I recite a line from it to her (I wish I could remember the line..but can’t).  She says, “Well it is Elvis.  I can tell you that. But I am the President of the Elvis Fan Club and to get the rest of the information you need to join the club.” I feel bamboozled and angry. Then I wake up.

Any idea what it all means? What deep seeded symbolism is held in the helicopter, mustard jar, and Elvis?

  1. I don’t know about the helicopter, but I think the rest means that you will have a baby and the baby will be a little something like Elvis.

  2. I’m going to have to go the other way on this one, jorg. I think it means she’s going to have a helicopter, and the helicopter will either be a little something like a baby or will be called “Baby.”

    Some people name their helicopters!

Not sure about the Elvis thing. But he did love him some peanut butter.

  3. An Elvis-like baby jorg? Really? Oh my, that might be a bit awkward. But perhaps he can grow up to support me in my old age. That would be nice. And yes, I couldn’t agree more about baby helicopters. Adorable! Now a horde of helicopters? Not so cute.

Have a baby helicopter dogimo? Now THAT would be downright uncomfortable I dare say. You are right on the PB thing and Elvis. I’ve read it, so it must be true. But I never read anything about Elvis and mustard. Strange.

  4. Oh, no not have a baby helicopter! Just have a helicopter. Now sure how you’d come into possession of it, but certainly not by means biological!

And you’d look at your helicopter and a feeling of fond possessiveness would come over you such as sometimes happens with a beloved possession, and it would probably be a small helicopter, and you’d name it “Baby.” And then somebody would be like, where are we going to keep this helicopter when we’re not using it?

Not in the corner. That’s all I can say.
