I ran across this mesmerizing head spinning video today. Created by New York multimedia artist Fredo Viola using his laptop microphone, a regular mic for harmonies, and AfterEffects it made my head feel like it was spinning for quite awhile after. What a strange and fascinating effect.

Viola’s video led me to his website theturn.tv which is chock full of some wonderful things to watch and listen to. The sweet and yes sad “The Sad Song” among others.

Viola’s work is very simple with mostly just his voice and some percussion added to some visuals. Yet I find it a bit addictive. His website theturn.tv is worth a visit. Playing with the shapes on the site is kind of like how it was to play with blocks as a kid; inspiring and and satisfying.
